How to shine shoes like a man
So here’s something that not only spruces up something in your home, it also makes you manlier when it’s done.
First, lay out some newspaper on the surface under where you will be shining. Shining always leaves behind small specs of shoe polish. If someone steps on them, it can end up leaving smudges that are difficult to remove.
My ratty shoes. Don’t hate me.
Here’s what you will need:
A rag (any old cloth will do, even a sock whose pair went missing in the dryer),
a brush,
and shoe polish.
Remove the laces and make the shoes has no dirt or dust.
Put some polish on the rag.
Make sure it’s generous, but not too much.
Rub the polish firmly on the shoe until hardly any more comes off the rag. Repeat as many times as necessary until the entire shoe is covered. Don’t forget the tongue and the sides of the heel and sole.
Use the brush in quick, firm, short strokes to polish the shoe. Repeat until the entire shoe shines and has no brush marks.
Compare the two shoes. The one on the right was shined.
Repeat the process on the other shoe, re-lace both shoes, then wear them to the office to show up all the coworkers who don’t shine their shoes.
