How to clean a cast iron pan like a man
Real men like cooking with cast iron: cast iron frying pans over a fire, dutch ovens and briquets, the list goes one.
Real men also know the key to cooking with cast iron is making sure you don’t wash it. Washing it takes away the non-stick properties.
Well, here’s how you can keep your cast-iron clean and keep it non-stick, too.
This is what our pan looked like this morning.
Use a paper towel to clean up any loose bits and any leftover grease. Or you can use napkins from last Christmas.
If you have spots that are cooked on, pour in a bit of salt. I am using kosher salt here, but regular table salt works, too.
Use another paper towel to scrub the pan with the salt.
Once the pan is scrubbed clean, wipe the salt into the garbage with a paper towel.
Ta da!
